Bridge from Ethereum to zkSync Era with Enkrypt

zkSync is an L2 solution built on Ethereum. Built for privacy, zkSync helps users only give up what information is necessary. Gone are the days of data leaks thanks to zkSync. Check out this guide for help bridging to zkSync Era with Enkrypt!

Bridge from Ethereum to zkSync Era with Enkrypt

Get your Ethereum assets onto zkSync Era to start using web3 with lower fees

Enkrypt is a multichain, non-custodial, and open-source web3 browser wallet built by the team behind MEW (MyEtherWallet). With Enkrypt, users and developers can generate accounts, manage tokens and NFTs, and interact with DApps on zkSync Era, as well as Substrate and Bitcoin chains. Follow the instructions in this guide in order to bridge to zkSync Era!

Layer 2s and scalability networks like zkSync Era are compatible with Ethereum, but you can't just send assets from Ethereum to zkSync Era in a regular transaction. The way to transfer assets between Ethereum and Layer 2s is through applications called bridges.

Like ETH on Ethereum, zkSync Era also has ETH as its native currency that you need to pay for network fees. However, the gas fees are much lower and transactions are faster than on the Ethereum mainnet. You will need to spend some crypto in Ethereum fees initially to bridge your assets to zkSync Era, but once you do that, you will be able to enjoy very low-fee transactions going forward.

To start trading tokens on zkSync Era instead of Ethereum, bridge your assets to the zkSync Era network.

Select the zkSync Era network on the left side menu then select the ‘Dapps’ option at the bottom and click the ‘zkSync Portal’ DApp.

zkSync Portal is a third-party DApp and is not affiliated with MEW in any way. Bridging assets from network to network involves some inherent risk. Please do your research and proceed at your own discretion.

Click ‘Connect Wallet’ at the top right of the screen.

Select ‘Enkrypt’.

On the Enkrypt pop up, select the account you want to connect with then click ‘Connect’.

You should now be able to select the network and token you want to bridge from.

For this example we will bridge ETH from Ethereum to native ETH on zkSync Era.

Enter the amount you want to bridge then click ‘Continue’.

You might see a warning letting you know that your wallet needs to support zkSync Era. Enkrypt supports zkSync Era natively, so you can click ‘I understand, proceed to bridge’ or ‘Don’t show again’.

You should see a confirmation before you start the bridging process. If you are satisfied with the fees click ‘Bridge now’.

Confirm the transaction on the Enkrypt pop up by clicking ‘Send’.

You should see that your transaction has been submitted and is in the process of being bridged over.

Once the bridging process has completed, you should see ‘Transaction completed’ with links to the blockchain explorer.

You should be able to see your ETH in your zkSync Era wallet on Enkrypt.

Now you are ready to swap on the zkSync Era network - see our guide here.
